Clothing for mermaids at the Outdoors Expo & Boat Show

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Mermaids and mermaids at heart can find clothing just for them at the News Channel 8 Outdoors Exhibit and Boat Show this weekend at Armature Works.

Fuck Floridais owned by Gloria Haas, who travels the state selling her products full-time.

“I have eco-friendly mermaid clothing featuring hand-drawn mermaids and mermaids with quirky designs. Eco-friendly, which means they are made from recycled plastic bottles,” Haas explained. “I have sun protection shirts. They have plant-based inks that are soy or water-based and little to no chemicals used in the printing process. I have recycled cotton bags. All different types of recycled products.

She said she creates the sayings and the basis for the designs, then has a few artists hand-draw the mermaids and tritons before her graphic designers put the final image together.

Haas started her company in 2019 and said the break from “doing nothing in 2020” actually helped her. She decided to start a website to sell her shirts and said things took off from there.

“I was a full time musician for over 10 years and so last year I went from that full time to that and I was doing both at one point so one of my shirt designs is ‘mermaid by day, mermaid by night’ and it’s actually my band’s design,” she said. “Because I was singing at night and doing this during the day and it was absolutely crazy for a while.”

She has since started traveling and working at events and markets all over the state. She attended last year’s Outdoors Expo & Boat Show, but said she loved the new Armature Works location.

“I love being by the water, of course!” Haas burst out laughing.

Haas is attached to her craft and her travels with her cats.

“I just moved into a van full time. Full time, hashtag van life, to also tow my little show shop that I bring with me, Sunny the Show Shop, and travel all over the state. I’m going down to the Keys for the Key West Mermaid Festival,” she said.

The News Channel 8 Outdoors Expo & Boat Show runs all weekend. A full list of events and seminars can be viewed online.
