The 6th Annual Connecticut Spring Boat Show will be held April 29-May 1 at Safe Harbor Essex Island, located in Essex, CT. On display will be new and brokerage, motor and sail models ranging from 20 feet to over 65 feet from the main boat brands. In addition to the boats on the docks, the show will host yacht brokers, equipment, artists, accessories and service companies exhibiting on the lawn.
This year’s boat show aims to raise $30,000.00 for Sails Up 4 Cancer (SU4C), a non-profit organization supporting cancer care, education, prevention and research, an increase over to the $22,000 raised at the 2021 show. Sails Up 4 Cancer will benefit from 50% of ticket sales proceeds and will be on hand with additional fundraising opportunities throughout the weekend.
“This show brings together many members of the boating industry to excite boaters for the season ahead,” said Tom Pilkington. President of Prestige Yacht Sales. “Boats are sometimes sold out within an hour of the show opening due to the timing of the show and the season. Interested buyers often wait until spring to see their desired boat in the water for a final look before purchase.
Show attendees from Connecticut, New York, New England and beyond will have the opportunity to compare boats and speak directly with dealers and manufacturers in an aquatic environment to board boats in the ‘water.
“We are still trying to grow the CT Spring Boat Show,” said Ben Cesare, president of Cat’s Paw LLC, which owns and operates the show with WindCheck Magazine. “Last year was a huge challenge as we were one of the first events to happen outside of the pandemic ‘lockdown’ in the North East.
“This year, we are thrilled to announce that Rives Potts, President of our host, Safe Harbor Marinas, and an internationally acclaimed sailor, will be giving a session on what it takes to enter and participate in the Newport Bermuda Race, an event which he won twice.”
Safe Harbor Essex Island Marina is located on a 13-acre private island, accessible by complementary ferry service, and offers 125 docks that can accommodate vessels up to 200 feet. The resort’s marina is family-friendly and offers food, drink, and music throughout the weekend. The show will follow all state and local guidelines to ensure a safe experience when visiting the show, rain or shine.
