One big problem with a high performance canoe hull is that there is very little bilge.   There is definitely no room to hide 98 gallons of diesel so the tanks had to go aft and up.  I know I will get some criticism form purist for this but there was just no other place.  While the tanks are higher than I would have liked more than 70% of their volume is below the water line.

There are two 36 gallon main tanks and a 26 gallon day tank. The vents of all three tanks are tied together to give some overflow protection.  Each tank will have its own gauge on the fuel management panel.  The transfer system is based around a Groco SPO 60 pump. These pumps are reversible simply by switching positive and negative connections.

This is accomplished with a DPDT rocker switch on the fuel management panel.   Four check valves arrayed around the pump draw fuel from either the port or starboard tank depending on the direction of rotation.

Not shown on the drawing is a pair of Racor 1000FG filters with 30 micron elements in parallel that prefilter fuel before it enters the day tank. Flow rate with this setup will be about 5 GPM so it will take less than 4 minutes to fill the day tank.

A 3-way valve down stream of these to divert output to any of the three tanks. Normally this will be to the day tank but it allows polishing of a tank if the fuel is suspect and transferring fuel to the windward side to act as ballast when on a long reach.

In the event of a pump failure, bypass valves will allow drawing fuel directly from the main tanks. Fuel return will still be to the day tank so it will gradually refill with filtered fuel.

To prevent any possibility of water entering the tank vents while the rail is buried, the vents will be located on the cockpit coaming.  Vetus No-Splash fill baffles and vent filters will prevent any but the most negligent fuel overflows from reaching the deck.

Final filtering wil.be a pair of Racor 500FG filters with 10 micron elements in tandem so that elements can be changed while the engine is running.
